The boring contractor has complete the reaming operations for the Horizontal Direction Drilling. The pipe will be pulled through the tunnel today and that completes the 16” water main line along Pfingsten Road. The general contractor still has to make the connections at either end of the run, plus various fire hydrants, valves and the water pipe into each cul-de-sac. This work will continue for the next couple weeks.

The new section of 16” water main from Rugen Rd to Knight has been chlorinated and tested and has been put into service. Next week the contractor will start replacing water services from Rugen Rd north across the tracks to Knight. Each homeowner will receive a new 1 ½” copper water service and shutoff box. This will require a shutdown of a couple hours for each individual home. The contractor will notify the resident before shutting down the service.

Also a scheduled shutdown will be needed in the Estate Lane area to make the final new connection to the 16”. This will require a shutdown of approximately 6 to 8 hours. Residents affected by this shutdown will be notified 24 hours in advance.

Water main installation continues on Pfingsten south toward Glenview Road. The boring contractor is currently setting up their last location, which will be close to Glenview Road. Please be careful when entering and exiting Pfingsten via Glenview Road!

The Horizontal Directional Drilling of the water main is in full force. The contractor is reaming (pushing the drill through the ground) approximately 800 feet at a time, and the process will continue moving south until they get to Glenview Road. Once the 16” pipe is installed, the General Contractor (DiMeo Brothers) still has to dig up areas to install valves (which turn the water on and off), fire hydrants, and the water main down each cul-de-sac. This work will continue for the next several weeks. The boring contractor (the contractor doing the HDD) is currently boring from Springdale to a little north of Lindenwood. During the daytime while the contractor is working along Pfingsten, if possible, please use an alternate route around the site to avoid driving through the work zone. I'll re-post the route via Betty Lane.
